Beautiful Samara
Samara is an administrative centre od Samara region, the large city in Russia, situated on the left Volga bank, between mouthes the Samara and the Sok rivers.
The population consists of more than million people. Climate is harshly continental. The first mention about city Samara was in 1357 year, when St. Alexei, Moscow metropolitan, on the way in the Golden Horde, foretold the existence of the big city.
Officially the year of creating the city is considered 1586 year, by order tsar Fedor Ioanovich for the protection of south frontiers not far from destroyed town began to built a stronghold on the Volga's bank.
According to one version, the name of the city came from greek «samar» - «the merchant», and «Ra» - it was the first name of the Volga. There is the other version, according it, the name of the city came from Tyrkic people.
Since 1935-91 years the city had name Kuibishev – in honour of Soviet Statesmen Valerian Kuibishev. The city made its contribution in the Victory under the fascism. In the World War II times, many factories were replaced there, a lot of weapons of war produced in this city, from Samara aerodrome of aircraft works fighted a lot of pursuit planes IL – 32.
Post war times was characterized of rapid development of the city. Samara became truly the largest industrial, scientific and cultural center of Russia. Here is creating the mighty potential aircraft, machine, metallurgical, electric – technical, oil – processing and light industries.
At present time Samara is the largest center of mechanical engineering and metal working, cosmetic and aircraft industries.
Samara is one of the largest traffic centre through it are laid the shortest routes from the Central and West Europe to the Siberia, the Middle Asia and Kazakhstan.
The old part of the city – is the true «museum in open air», where modelling and carved decorations of houses are.
Samara is the unique city, uniting in its look the various architectural styles. The originality of Samara determines the different building's epochs, many of them became the monument of architecture.
