Cultural Event
The Literary – memorial museum– is the memorial house of N. Ostrovsky and his own literary part. Memorial complex has an absolute building originality and room settings. Furniture, books, cloth, radio sets and lightening technique transfer full and emotional atmosphere of 30th years and people interests of pre – war epoch.
The constant exposition «the Literary Sochi» is represented the developing of cultural sphere of the city, exemplificative such names as Bestuzhev – Marlinsky, Odoevsky, Maikov, Dmitriev, Babel, Zoschenko, Schwarz and others. Art design of exposition, made by artist S. N. Sorokin in 1997 year, helps visitors to imagine Sochi's look of the beginning XX century and its development as a resort with pensions – palaces in 40-60 years. The exposition is rich with documentary materials, book rarity and way of life things of XIX century and first part of XX century.
In exhibited halls are annually shown about dozen exhibition from collection of Russia and private collection.
In the main museum fund are 19 thousands of exhibits.
This house was built as a present of government USSR to N. A. Ostrovsky. He moved there in May of 1936 year, after eight years of staying in different apartments in Sochi. Spring 1935 year by initiative of government chairman was made a decision of building country for Ostrovsky.
Family part of house consists of mother's room, sisters, dinning – room, kitchen and hall. Writing room was represented as a study room, veranda, and wife's room on second floor. Place for house was chosen by his mother. It was placed not far from central part of the city, but was enough far from noisy resort trunk road. « Made everything, for my calm working» - asked Ostrovsky to his friends. - « I feel in it care and tender hand of my Motherland»
The museum is daily available 9.00 – 17.00, excepting Wednesday.
The studio - museum of Bedrak family
Vladimir and Evgenia Bedrak – are the artists of applied art, member of Russian Artists Union – creaated in Sochi the unique studio – museum. At this museum are collected a rich collection of watercolours, paintings, graphics, works of applied art – Russian dolls, cork – tumbler, paschal eggs, cases and brooches.
The house V. Barsova
The museum is placed in mansion of singer V. Barsova, built in 1947 year Mauritanian style. There are comfortable chamber hall of theatre house on 50 seats with wonderful acoustics, unique exhibits of XX century, memorial living room with sets of 40 – 50th years, rich audio library of hers. At that place she was living in summer and autumn for 20 years. In 1967 years Barsova bequeathed her dacha to Sochi.
The Art gallery of wooden figure
There are more than 400 exhibits at this museum. This mysterious world consists of several halls. Going up to screw stair higher and higher, passing from one hall to another, more and more surprises these various and «live» wooden figure, how they are different and perfect.
This collection was made from aboriginal kinds of trees. Variety of halls delights all visitors of this museum. « Hall of woman love» - is rich in various silhouettes of graceful and wonderful women figures. In the religious hall are presented the figures of Sergiy Radonezhsky, Maria Magdalina, Jesus Christ, and also a special sight of «Trinity».
In Art gallery you see wonderful «Hall of masks». Passing other hall, pleasure «Beautiful grace», «Rain man», going upper there is a hall «Wonderful priestess», «Last Cleopatra kiss» and take attention to the composition «United with fate». A special atmosphere of calmness is presented at this gallery, which is impossible to compare, it should feel. And the staff of this gallery hope, that every men, having visited the gallery, take away the most secret and desired with themselves.

The Art – museum of Sochi
The Art – museum of Sochi takes place in one of the most beautiful buildings of the city, it isn't difficult to notice it. The building was built in 1936 year. First of all, there were official setting ups, and more than 30 years at this building was opened the museum.
The Art – museum of Sochi keeps unique collection of painting works, sculptures, graphics, and decorative and applied arts of XVIII – XX century.
The museum offers excursion lessons for preliminary agreement.
The museum is daily available 10.00-17.00, excepting Monday.
The museum Phyto – Fantasy»
The museum Phyto – Fantasy is a creating of landscape architecture, made by Sergey Venchagov. It is the unique museum in open – air placed in 10 metres from «Winter Garden»
The most various things are combined at the exposition of the museum. Roots of old trees are close to subtropic plants. Flowers opens on tinder – mushrooms. Ivy lianas wind around cactus. It seemed as unreal picture, as mysterious one. The museum is daily available at 10.00 till 16.00
The museum of city resort Sochi
This museum was created int 1920 year. It is includes unique monument collection of cities history since old times to modern. There are more than 80 thousands of historic things. At the museum is available the exhibits: «Archaeological monuments of Sochi region», «Nature of West Caucasus» and «Cosmonauts in Sochi».
Theaters and concert halls
The Winter Theatre
Lovers of theatres should visit the Winter Theatre. It is one of more beautiful building in the city, the architectural monument. It was built in 1937 year. Its architectural ensemble reminds Greek Acropolis. There are not own troupes of this theatre, however, best collectives of Russia take part in theatrical, musical, choreographic and variety performances. Annually this theatre accept Open Russian and International festival «Kinotavr». Since 1993 year in Philharmonic Society of Sochi carried out one time in two years International jazz festival.
It is placed on Theatrical square at the centre of city.
«Hall of organ and chamber music is placed at the center of resort city. High acoustic possibility of this hall allow to carry out there concerts of organ (the organ was placed in 1986 year), symphonic, chamber – ensemble, choral and vocal music. The artists of own creative collectives take part in concert performances with outstanding russian and foreign singers, laureates of International contest.
Every year in June is carried out the International festival of organ music with outstanding musicians from neighboring borders. The festival represents itself performances between neighboring countries: Italy, Estonia, USA and Finland.
Today chamber hall is the main academic concert scene on the Black sea. In 2005 year according to decision of city assembly the hall was awarded the name of Alisa Fedorovna Debolskaya – rewarded worker of culture of Russia, rewarded citizen of Sochi, for 12 years was a head of this cultural establishment. City wide meetings, conferences, seminars, anniversary celebrations are carried out there.
The concert hall «Festival»
The opening of this hall was in 1979 year. Concert hall contains 2500 seats, from which the scene and ships are well seen. The hall is fitted out by modern equipments and technics.
Under vaults of the hall is sounded music by best symphonic orchestra of Russia. Famous choreograpchic and choral collectives give performances at this hall. In small hall there is night club of 300 seat, are carried out discos and entertaining programmes.
