Great Luki is placed in 300 km from Pskov. It is one of the ancient towns in Russia. It has long and interesting history. The first mention of this town was in XI century, in XIV century this town was included Novgorod principality, became its frontier advanced post. In 1478 year Great Luki came to Moscow princedom, according to order of Ivan III. In 1812 year the town was a rear base of Russian army. A part of town Sebezh includes in structure of national park «Sebezhsky». The unique nature of this town attracts tourists. There are the largest lakes of Pskov region at this territory – Necheriza (1700ha) and Sebezhskoe (1600ha) - are rich of fishes (24 kinds), you may catch fish only with a special licence, which you can buy at workers of fishing control authority of town Sebezh or at forester. As concerns hunting, it is prohibited.
A lot of berries and mushrooms grow here. More than 700 kinds of plants and 200 species of birds, several species of them are rare and include in «the Red Book».
